IMPORTANT some of
these movie clip files are in MPG format. They are quite large in
size ranging from a little under 10 Mega Bytes, to about 32 Mega
Bytes in size. My tests you really need a high speed
connection. Dial up will take a very long time to download.
IMPORTANT UPDATE
08/29/09, Batcat Jim
Eaton, "jimbosvideojoint" on YouTube,
has converted, and added to YouTube some of these clips,
previously as MPG format!! Because of issues some have
encountered downloading and viewing the movie clips, I'm
hoping Jim Eaton will continue to convert and add these clips to
YouTube. Jim does very fine work. Home 8mm movies were shot at 18
frames per second, while computers display at 30 frames per
second. Jim has converted the first of the movie clips to the 30
FPS rate and it looks good. Hope you will take a look.
Rob Dailey, son of
Major Robert Dailey, provided his father's home movies. Rob
had the 8mm silent movies converted to DVD. I converted the VOB
format of the DVD to MPG, a common PC format. Because of the very
large size of the files, it wasn't practical to upload the
full movies. I edited the movies into movie clips which, even
though large, are practical to download and view. Hope you enjoy,
and our thanks to Rob Dailey for sending these
along.
